From Vedic Wisdom to Technological Advancement for Viksit Bharat @ 2047: A Global Perspective for Psychological Excellence and Sustainable Development (VED-TAPS 2026)

Uttaranchal University has been recognized by the UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, and by other statutory bodies of the State and the Nation. The University has been accredited with the prestigious "A+ Grade" by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Uttaranchal University is the first university in the State of Uttarakhand to receive NAAC A+ Grade in the first cycle of Accreditation, thus creating history.

Uttaranchal University's national and global achievements reflect its consistent rise in prominence. The University has been featured in the WURI Rankings from 2022 to 2025, followed by its appearance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for 2024 and 2025, underscoring its strong contributions to global research and innovative practices. In 2024, it achieved a remarkable position- fifth nationally and twenty-fifth internationally- under UNSDG Goal 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy) in the THE World Impact Rankings. The University further strengthened its global footprint with its inclusion in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026, QS Sustainability Rankings, and THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings in 2025. On the national front, the School of Pharmacy (Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences) secured the 75th rank in NIRF 2025.

It has also received the Sustainability Award from the International Council of Circular Economy, recognizing its leadership in sustainable practices. Furthermore, its inclusion in the SDSN South Asia Network emphasizes its commitment to advancing sustainability and impactful research in the region.

In alignment with NEP 2020, which strongly encourages the integration of traditional knowledge with modern education, the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) aims to upskill teachers and students by blending ancient Indian concepts with interdisciplinary and contemporary academic practices, while promoting the use of digital resources to preserve and disseminate India's rich intellectual heritage. The Centre seeks to promote the study, research, and dissemination of Indian traditional knowledge systems in areas such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Indian Mathematics, Vedic Studies, Indian Philosophy, and other indigenous sciences, create comprehensive repositories of traditional knowledge to support interdisciplinary research, and offer courses, workshops, and seminars that integrate traditional wisdom with modern scientific methodologies. Further, the Centre endeavors to collaborate with national and international universities, research institutions, and industries to promote Indian Knowledge Systems globally, and to function as a hub for innovation, research, and sustainable practices, fostering holistic development and culturally grounded academic excellence.

School of Liberal Arts was established in 2019 with an aim to provide students with comprehensive education and 21^st century skills to enable them to excel in several careers in business, social sector and research. Liberal Arts education gives purpose, direction, and value to education and life with 360° personality.

The students find themselves exposed to ideas and topics that range from social history to human behaviour, from ancient English Literature to Contemporary Literature with various genres, from psychology to economics and history. The uniquely tailored programs will carve out the students with a new approach towards multifarious horizons, methods of enquiry, experiences and abilities that will help them to build a new world with more empathetic systems around them. SLA believes in sculpting the character of students as such to make them responsible and the best global citizens.

The international conference titled "From Vedic Wisdom to Technological Advancement for Viksit Bharat @2047: A Global Perspective for Psychological Excellence and Sustainable Development" seeks to create an interdisciplinary platform for scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and academicians from across the globe. The conference aims to critically explore how Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)-including Vedic psychology, consciousness studies, yoga, mindfulness, ethics, and indigenous models of human development-can meaningfully contribute to addressing contemporary global challenges.

In an era marked by rapid technological transformation, mental health concerns, environmental crises, and shifting socio-cultural dynamics, the conference emphasizes the need to integrate psychological resilience, emotional intelligence, sustainable lifestyles, and value-based education with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital learning, and data-driven governance.
